Glass Elements

Did you know that 2013 is the year for the color Emerald? Well, according to Pantone it is:

Emerald, a lively, radiant, lush green, is the Color of the Year for 2013.

The color experts over at Pantone have selected lively emerald as the "it" color for the year - inspiring designers to find ways to incorporate it in to their newest creations. No doubt you've already seen the eye-catching jewel-tone green make a big appearance on the red carpet, and pop up all over your Pinterest feeds, too!

Emerald Inspiration in Seattle

Finding emerald inspiration beyond the color swatch is easy here in Seattle, the "Emerald City". We're surrounded by lush pine forests and green is everywhere. Don't look now, but I just spotted a bit of mossy inspiration growing on my house! These lively greens are a nice consolation prize to the wet winters we experience. I was excited by the announcement of emerald as "Color of the Year", since I can pull inspiration for new pieces just by looking out the studio window, or by hiking my favorite path. This inspiration made its way into my donation to the 2013 Pratt Fine Art Center Auction.  A new bangle makes its debut with this jewelry set and features curling fronds like the ferns I see growing in our forests.

Emerald City Jewelry Set

Don't worry if you can't make it to the Auction, new emerald inspired pieces have also found their way into my etsy shop, too!  giving you a chance to add the hottest color to your jewelry collection. The fan favorite Trinity Necklace, was begging to be crafted in emerald to enhance the clover shape of the petite necklace. Other new emerald pieces in the shop include:

I definitely find more color inspiration looking outside than from the color swatch! :)

I’ve always loved the emerald hue, and your new bangle design is my favorite—it is absolutely lovely. I hope you will be making more! A close second is that Emerald Square the Circle necklace. :)

I don’t think Pantone’s version of emerald hits the mark — too flat & gray. Thanks for running with the concept & making it into awesome, instead!
